MY PHILOSOPHY
Life is stressful but the way we approach our health and performance doesn’t have to be.
The biggest threat to our health in the 21st century is the stress we face. Not a lack of information, health-centers, or, gyms. There’s enough apps, experts, and devices to sink a cruise ship. Yet we still struggle to feel well.
Self-development has become a never ending checklist of things we should be doing. Meditation, exercise, diets, cold plunges, morning routines, and bio-hacks. These can be useful but my god what a checklist!
The pursuit of feeling better has become exhausting. It’s adding to our stress, when it should be helping us to deal with it.
The antidote to this madness is simple. In one word, it’s “practice”.
Having a personalized practice is connected to yourself. It’s informed by you, in relationship to you. A commitment by you to take care of you.
Exercise is a good thing (obvious statement of the year) but we can easily ruin it. It can either build you up or mess you up. The key difference is how we approach and relate to it. In other words, how we practice.
A personalized practice can be informed with insights and support from others. But at the core the solution is being developed from within yourself.
A workout won’t change your life, but a movement practice can.
One deep breath won’t change your nervous system, but a breath practice can.
One meditation won’t quiet your mind, but a mindfulness practice can.
You get the idea. Happy Practicing :)
